Welcome new and returning families to the 2019-2020 school year!  As always our goal is to provide your child the very best preschool experience, so I want to begin the year by sharing important information that will help you and your child experience a successful start to the school year.  First, please begin talking to your child about starting school, riding the bus, playing with friends, and seeing his/her teacher. You may also want to begin establishing bedtime and morning routines that will be used during the school year.  Visit our website (rlas-116.org) with your child to look at photos from last year to show how fun school is. We want the beginning of the school year to be as special and as stress-free as possible! Please mark your calendar with the following important dates:

WHAT’S NEW:

Throughout the district, one Wednesday a month will be a half-day of school for students.   On a half-day each month, the Early Education Center will only conduct an AM session (9:00am-11:30am).  In an effort to equalize the number of sessions AM and PM students attend throughout the year, the following schedule will be in place for the 2019-2020 school year:

• AM students ONLY will attend preschool from 9:00 am - 11:30 am on the half days, September - December (Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 6, Dec. 11)
• PM students ONLY will attend preschool from 9:00 am - 11:30 am on the half days, January - May (Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 11, April 8, May 20) - You will be notified of your child’s bus pick up and drop off time changes for these days
• AM students ONLY will attend on the first day of school on August 15, from 9:00am-11: 30 am
• PM students ONLY will attend on the last day of school on May 28, from 9:00am-11: 30 am. 

WHO’S NEW:

We have a lot of new faces at the Early Education Center! Please join me in welcoming our new social worker Ms. Cari Miller, new Preschool for All teacher Ms. Susan Hickey, new Early Childhood Special Education teachers Ms. Megan Wentz and Ms. Debra Arteaga, and new paraprofessional Ms. Angela Swartz.  We are so fortunate to have these highly qualified and talented individuals join the EEC team. Ms. Sara Grabow will be returning this year as a TOSA or “Teacher On Special Assignment”. Ms. Grabow will assist me in building leadership and management. I am very excited to share this responsibility with her and for the expertise she will bring to this new role.

THINGS TO REMEMBER: 

• Your child must have a current physical on file and be up to date with immunizations before the first day of school.
• Snacks and school supplies will be provided for your child.  If your child has any special dietary needs, please contact your child’s teacher.  
• Please send your child with a backpack and a complete change of clothes.  
• We go outside every day weather permitting, so please make sure your child dresses appropriately.  
• If your child is not toilet trained, please send diapers and wipes with him/her. 

School information will be sent via backpack mail, email, text, and/or will be posted on our website and social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). Please check your child’s backpack daily.  Please make sure that we have your current email on file and that all phone numbers and emergency contacts are up to date. We look forward to the coming school year, partnering with families and supporting your child’s learning, growth, and development.

¡Bienvenidas familias nuevas y que regresan al año escolar 2019-2020!  Como siempre, nuestro objetivo es brindarle a su hijo la mejor experiencia preescolar, por eso quiero comenzar el año compartiendo información importante que les ayudará a usted y a su hijo a tener un comienzo exitoso en el año escolar.  Primero, comience a hablar con su hijo acerca de comenzar la escuela, viajar en autobús, jugar con amigos y ver a su maestra. También es posible que desee comenzar a establecer rutinas a la hora de acostarse y de la mañana que se utilizarán durante el año escolar.  Visite nuestro sitio web (rlas-116.org) con su hijo para ver las fotos del año pasado para mostrar lo divertida que es la escuela. ¡Queremos que el comienzo del año escolar sea tan especial y lo más libre de estrés posible! En todo el distrito, un miércoles al mes será medio día de clases para los estudiantes.   El medio día de cada mes, el Centro de Educación Temprana solo llevará a cabo una sesión de la mañana (9:00 a. m. a 11:30 a. m.).  En un esfuerzo por igualar la cantidad de sesiones a las que asisten los estudiantes de la mañana y de la tarde durante todo el año, se implementará el siguiente horario para el año escolar 2019-2020:

• SOLO los estudiantes de la mañana asistirán a preescolar de 9:00 a. m. a 11:30 a. m. durante los mediodías, de septiembre a diciembre (11 de septiembre, 9 de octubre, 6 de noviembre y 11 de diciembre).
• SOLO los estudiantes de la tarde asistirán a preescolar de 9:00am - 11:30am durante los mediodías, de enero a mayo (8 de enero, 12 de febrero, 11 de marzo, 20 de mayo). Se le notificarán los cambios de horario de autobús de su hijo para estos días.
• SOLO los estudiantes de la mañana asistirán el primer día de clases el 15 de agosto de 9:00 a. m. a 11:30 a. m.
• SOLO los estudiantes de la tarde asistirán el último día de clases el 28 de mayo de 9:00 a. m. a 11:30 a. m.

¡Tenemos muchas caras nuevas en el Centro de Educación Temprana! Únase a mí para dar la bienvenida a nuestra nueva trabajadora social, la Sra. Cari Miller, a la nueva maestra de Preescolar para Todos, la Sra. Susan Hickey, a las nuevas maestras de Educación Especial para la Primera Infancia, a la Sra. Megan Wentz y a la Sra. PARA RECORDAR:

• Su hijo debe tener un examen físico actualizado en el archivo y estar al día con las vacunas antes del primer día de clases.
• Se proporcionarán refrigerios y útiles escolares para su hijo.  Si su hijo tiene necesidades dietéticas especiales, comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo.  
• Envíe a su hijo con una mochila y un cambio completo de ropa.  
• Salimos todos los días si el clima lo permite, así que asegúrese de que su hijo se vista adecuadamente.  
• Si su hijo no sabe usar el baño, envíe pañales y toallitas. 

La información de la escuela se enviará por correo, correo electrónico, mensaje texto o se publicará en nuestro sitio web y redes sociales (Facebook, Instagram y Twitter). Revise la mochila de su niño diariamente.  Asegúrese de que tengamos archivado su correo electrónico actual, y de que todos los números de teléfono y los contactos de emergencia estén actualizados. Esperamos el próximo año escolar, colaborar con las familias y apoyar el aprendizaje, el crecimiento y el desarrollo de su hijo.
