Dear Pleviak Kindergarten Parents/Guardians,

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to your family. We are, Jeff King, the new Pleviak Principal, and Sarah Swanson, the new Assistant Principal.  It is with great enthusiasm and dedication that we take on these positions, and we look forward to building a relationship with each one of you.

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting and important moment for both you and your child. It is our pleasure and greatest honor to welcome you for an exceptional year. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning, as well as their infectious laughter and love of life. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected and a part of the Pleviak family.

Welcome Celebration (one-stop-shop):

Monday, August 5, 2019 12:00-8:00pm

This is an event you DON’T want to miss. The purpose of this event is to give your child the opportunity to become comfortable with being a student for the first time. Students will have the chance to get a tour of the school, get on a bus, meet some of our staff and have some refreshments. At the same time this event is meant to provide convenience for our parents by offering the following opportunities at this event as a one-stop-shop:

• Local daycare providers - available for questions or sign up for daycare
• Transportation - Bus tag pick-up, requests/paperwork 
• Office - Registration process completion, schedule screening
• Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts sign-up
• PTO - receive information, get involved
• Insight - job opportunities for subbing
  
  

Class Lists: Thursday, August 8, 2019, 9:00 am

Your child’s homeroom teacher will be available in Infinite Campus on August 6th and posted on the windows here at Pleviak on August 8th at 9:00 am. Students who are not registered will not appear on the lists. Please complete the online registration from the district website as soon as possible to secure a seat for your child in our classrooms.

School Supply Drop Off:  Tuesday, August 13, 2019, 3:30-5: 30 pm

This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to come to the school to meet your child’s teacher and visit the classroom.

First Day of School: Thursday, August 15, 2019 

We know the first day of Kindergarten is a milestone for your child, however, to establish a routine for your child, we encourage all bus riders to ride the bus in the morning. While we know this is an exciting time, due to limited parking we ask you please take your pictures prior to getting on the bus.

Additional Information: 

2019-2020 Initiatives: This year will be filled with many new and continued initiatives. We will continue our focus on: Standards-Based Grading, guided reading, Grab and Go Breakfast.

School Day: The school day runs from 8:45 am to dismissal at 3:30 pm. Please note there is no supervision before 8:45 am so please do not drop students off prior to that time. Please support and emphasize daily attendance! 

Breakfast/Lunch Information: Meals are provided through Organic Life and all students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch each day. Breakfast is served from 8:45-9:05 am. The menu can be found on the district website.

Bus Information: Information on bus routes, stops, and times can be found in Infinite Campus and will be available to parents on August 6th. Complete this form for any bus changes related to before/after school care. In general, please allow at least three days for bus change requests to be processed. 

Arrival/Dismissal Information: If you will be dropping your child off at school, please read the pick-up and drop-off information.

We encourage you to play an active role in your child’s education. It important to bridge home and school for the growth of our students, it is also vital to build a strong student/teacher/parent relationship. Please know our teachers are here to nurture and encourage students throughout the day, but it will be your participation in family nights, PTO events, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences that will help keep the lines of communication between home and school open.

Once again, we are elated to get to know you and your family over the coming school year. We are optimistic that, together, we will have a productive and memorable school year! Este es un evento que NO debe perderse. El propósito de este evento es darle a su hijo la oportunidad de sentirse cómodo como estudiante por primera vez. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de hacer un recorrido por la escuela, subir a un autobús, conocer a algunas personas de nuestro personal y tomar un refrigerio. Al mismo tiempo, este evento está destinado a proporcionar comodidad a nuestros padres al ofrecer las siguientes oportunidades durante este evento, en un único lugar:

· Proveedores de guarderías locales: disponibles para preguntas o inscribirse en la guardería

· Transporte: recogida de la etiqueta del autobús, solicitudes/trámites

· Secretaría: finalización del proceso de inscripción, selección de horarios

· Registro de Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts

· PTO: reciba información, participe

· Insight: oportunidades de trabajo como substituto

El maestro de aula de su hijo estará disponible en Infinite Campus el 6 de agosto y se publicará en las ventanas aquí en Pleviak el 8 de agosto a las 9:00 a.m. Los estudiantes que no estén inscriptos no aparecerán en las listas. Recomendamos que desempeñe un papel activo en la educación de su hijo. Es importante tender un puente entre el hogar y la escuela para el crecimiento de nuestros estudiantes, también es vital construir una relación sólida estudiante/maestro/padre. Tenga en cuenta que nuestros maestros están aquí para nutrir y alentar a los estudiantes durante todo el día, pero será su participación en noches familiares, eventos de PTO, jornadas de puertas abiertas, y reuniones de padres y maestros que ayudarán a mantener abiertas las líneas de comunicación entre el hogar y la escuela.
