My name is Scott McCandless and I am one of the two physical education teachers here at Pleviak. I have been teaching physical education to elementary aged students since 2009. Prior to coming to Pleviak I worked in Highland Park, Illinois as an elementary physical education teacher. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical and Health education, while attending Northern Michigan University. I am also endorsed in health and drivers education.

In my time away from school I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and daughter. I also give back to the community through coaching ice hockey. I have coached children of all ages and am currently coaching for Carmel Catholic High School. I look forward to the day when I will be able to coach my daughter in hockey.

Sports and physical activity have had a strong impact on my life. This passion for a healthy lifestyle is something I want to instill this within my students. All students can learn and succeed when given the correct tools. My hope is for my students to discover and understand the importance of teamwork, the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and to introduce them to a wide range of activities

I am looking forward to another great year here at Pleviak.
