• PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)

PBIS is a system within our school that focuses on teaching expected/appropriate school and district behaviors while also positively reinforcing those behaviors.  PBIS effectively increases social, emotional, and academic outcomes for our students.

Every week students are taught different social/emotional skills. Some examples of these skills include strategies to focus in the class, strategies to make friends, and strategies to self-advocate. These skills are taught using the research based curriculum, Second Step. In addition, extra support and feedback can be provided to students on an individual or small group basis through Check-In/Check-Out (CICO) or through Social and Academic Intervention Groups.

Students are able to earn Mustang Bucks throughout the school day when demonstrating appropriate and expected behavior. They can spend their Mustang Bucks at our school store which takes place two times a month.

Every week, classes and grade levels are able to earn awards for having the best attendance, recess behavior, lunch behavior, and overall classroom behavior.

Our PBIS committee holds fun activities throughout the school year including the Back to School Bash for families and students as well as planning activities for classroom celebrations, monthly.
