• Dear Parents,

Welcome to the EEC!  My name is Janie Metzger and it is such a privilege for me to serve as the principal of the preschool program. I want you and your child to feel that you belong, you are valued, and that you are an important member of our school community.  Our mission is to provide all children access to a high-quality preschool program that supports a child’s full participation in their community.  We believe all children can learn when given time, quality instruction, and support.  Our program promotes inclusion for children with special needs and believes that young children learn best when they can interact with typical peers and are provided with a variety of play-based learning experiences.  I invite every family to get involved in our program by volunteering in a classroom, attending our special events, joining our Parent Leadership Advisory Committee, and by staying closely connected with your child’s educational team.  Our staff is committed to bringing the very best educational experiences to your child each day.  We want to support not only your child’s academic growth but their social-emotional growth as well. Our staff members have great expertise in the area of early childhood education and want to support families so learning continues at home. I am a Lake County resident, have been married to my loving husband for 33 years, have 5 wonderful children, and 1 precious grandchild.  I believe children are a gift, and it is the responsibility of the adults in their life to love and protect them, to care for them, and to nurture their development. This belief guides my leadership of the preschool program, the decisions we make, and how we serve children.  I look forward to the coming school year and to the opportunity to work with you and your child. Please contact me anytime with questions or concerns.

    Mrs. Janie Metzger -

    Janie Metzger

Mrs. Sara Grabow

Hello! My name is Sara Grabow and I am excited to continue my work with the children and families at the Early Education Center! I have been with the early childhood program for eight years as a teacher and I look forward to my new role as a teacher on special assignment. This role is similar to an assistant principal! It is my goal to promote family involvement within the school that will lead to a strong foundation for school readiness. I would like to welcome all families into the program and encourage you to ask questions and get involved. I will work with staff and families to ensure a strong connection between both home and school.

I have always had a passion for early childhood. I began my career volunteering at the Early Education Center when I was in high school. I have my Bachelor’s degree with an early childhood teaching license, a special education endorsement and an ELL endorsement! I decided to continue my education, received a Master’s in Education with a concentration of literacy, and recently graduated with a second Master’s in Education with a Principal endorsement!

As a fellow Round Lake graduate, I know the potential that lies ahead for all students. The Early Education Center is the first step into the school community. I will strive to ensure the experiences here are ones that will excite your child for the possibilities that are still to come.
