Mr. Scott Kubelka

Ellis Elementary is a learning environment established on kindness, empathy, and understanding.  Students at our school benefit from a quality education that fosters both academic growth and social-emotional development.  The learning that your child will experience will be purposeful, engaging, and joyful.

This year, schools in Round Lake Area Schools CUSD #116 including Ellis Elementary are embracing the theme, Forward Together.  This message is particularly relevant to us because we have witnessed the benefits that result in meaningful collaborations with families and community agencies.  Forward Together will be more important than ever as students return to classrooms in the fall.  For many children, this will be their first time learning on-site in over a year.  For us to move Forward Together, we need to communicate often and support each other when the occasion rises.

With that in mind, the staff and I intend to continue fostering relationships with students and their families.  Your past and future support of the staff is appreciated because the connection between school and home is important and makes a difference.  Mr. Fred Rogers explained, “Our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has - or ever will have - something inside that is unique to all time.  It is our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”

As parents, there are many ways you can support your child’s education, including finding time to read, play a game, assist with homework, as well as talk and listen about your child’s experiences at school.  These simple activities will help develop both academic and social skills that are vital to their development and growth.  On behalf of the Ellis Elementary School staff, we look forward to cultivating your child’s curiosity, passion, and creativity in partnership.

On a final, but important note, a kind reminder that the diversity reflected in our school community is valued; every student, family, staff, and volunteer is important to us. We accept, appreciate, and love you.

Forward Together!

Scott Kubelka, Principal of Ellis Elementary School

¡Avancemos juntos!

Mrs. Lisa Ryan

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am very excited to join Ellis Elementary School this year.

I am coming to Ellis from Murphy Elementary. This year, I am excited to support Ellis students and will be focused on the District SEL initiative as well as the PBIS program to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff.

I have been an educator and advocate for students for the past twenty years. As a teacher, my experience spans early childhood through middle school. As a school administrator, I have served as a principal, an assistant principal, and dean in both the public and private sectors.

My love for working with students has led me to volunteer for Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, coach soccer and teach swimming. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, biking, swimming and traveling. I am also a fan of the Bears, the Cubs, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

I am looking forward to getting to know and work with all of the students, families, and staff at Ellis Elementary. If you need any assistance with your child(ren), please feel free to contact me at (847) 270-9953. My door is always open, so please feel free to stop by and visit.

Sincerely,

Lisa Ryan, Assistant Principal
