Health screenings are conducted annually based on the following criteria:

Speech and Language Screenings:

Students may be screened upon referral. 

Vision Screening:

Round Lake School District currently provides vision screening for our registered preschool, kindergarten, second grade and eighth grade students, all special education students, all new students, and any teacher referrals.

It is important to be aware, that the State of Illinois requires submission of proof of a completed vision examination for any student entering school for the first time (regardless of grade level) or kindergarten, second grade, and sixth grade students. Complete information regarding vision examination requirements can be found in section 5.10 of the handbook. 

Students wearing glasses will not be screened but are expected to see the eye doctor of their choice at least every two years or as directed by their eye doctor.

Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision examination/evaluation by an eye doctor.

Your child is not required to undergo the vision screenings provided by Round Lake School District if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been performed.

Hearing Screening:

Preschool children; Grades Kindergarten, First, Second, Third; all special education students; all new students; and all teacher referrals. 

Please Note: This handbook section serves as notification to parents regarding health screening criteria and requirements. Requests by parents or guardians choosing to opt out of any of the above screenings should be made in writing and directed to the Building Principal on an annual basis. Any student may be screened for hearing and/or vision on a referral basis.
