1.40 - Visitors

  • All visitors to school property are required to report to the main office and receive permission to remain on school property. All visitors, including parents and siblings, are required to enter through the main entrance of the building, follow all check-in protocols and proceed immediately to the office or approved destination.

    Visitors must sign in, identifying their name, the date and time of arrival, and the classroom or location they are visiting.  Approved visitors must take a tag identifying themselves as a guest and place the tag to their outer clothing in a clearly visible location.  Visitors are required to proceed immediately to their location in a quiet manner. All visitors must return to the main office, sign out and return identification tags before leaving the school.

    On those occasions when large groups of parents/guardians, friends, and/or community members are invited onto school property or when community members are attending Board of Education meetings, visitors are not required to sign in but must follow school officials' instructions.

    Except as provided in the next paragraph, any persons wishing to confer with a staff member should contact that staff member to make an appointment.

    Requests to access a school building, facility, and/or educational program, or to interview personnel or a student for purposes of accessing the student's special education needs, should be made at the appropriate building. Access shall be facilitated according to guidelines from the Superintendent or designee.

    Visitors are expected to abide by all school rules during their time on school property.   A visitor who fails to conduct himself or herself in a manner that is appropriate will be asked to leave and may be subject to criminal penalties for trespass and/or disruptive behavior.
