    Raise.me: https://www.raise.me/join/round-lake-senior-high-school - Raise.me is a website that allows you to earn “micro-scholarships” for things you are already doing, like joining clubs, earning A’s, and volunteering.  There are 225+ partner colleges that will award you money should you decide to attend there for college.  It’s helpful to know in advance you have scholarships to count on!  You can start this from FRESHMAN year!

    Name: Kim Kearby Scholarship

    Kim Kearby dedicated 40 years of his life teaching Round Lake children at Beach and Village Elementary Schools. He was a frontline supporter of labor, civil liberties, and social issues.  He will be remembered for his dedication to his community as teacher, leader, organizer, and activist.

    Amount: (4) $1,000

    Deadline: 3pm April 23, 2021

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • Current high school seniors at Round Lake High School who will be attending a college, university, or community college following high school graduation are eligible to apply.
    • There is no GPA requirement for this scholarship ALL RLHS seniors who plan on attending a college, university or community college are eligible to apply!
    • You must complete the application. (Application will be emailed to all Seniors at their RLHS email address)
    • You will be required to answer (3) short answer questions.

    Please prepare a typed response to the following questions:

    1. Why do you feel that you are deserving of the Kim Kearby Senior Scholarship?  Please discuss all of your contributions to your community and humanitarian acts.
    2. Discuss your plans for continuing your education.  Include names of schools or college that you are considering and the field that you intend to pursue?
    3. As you look to the future, what are your short and long term goals?

    • The Education Association of Round Lake (E.A.R.L.) is looking to award students who contribute to their community.

    Name: 2021 Lake Villa, Lindenhurst, Round Lake Chamber Scholarship

    Amount: (3) $500

    Deadline: 3pm April 23, 2021

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • High school seniors eligible to attend Round Lake High School and or living within Lake Villa Township who will be attending a college/university, community college following high school graduation are eligible to apply.
    • There is no GPA requirement for this scholarship ALL RLHS Seniors who plan on attending a college, university, technical school or community college are eligible to apply!
    • You must complete the application. (Application will be emailed to all Seniors at their RLHS email address)
    • A resume must be attached containing information about your school awards and activities, your community service involvement and your work experience
    • A short essay (500 words or less) on your future work goals and how you intend to achieve them as well as any other information which you would like the Committee to consider
    • An up-to-date copy of your high school transcript (Ask Mr. Bruno to send for you)
    • Acceptance letter from the college you are planning to attend
    • A interview will be required for finalists

    Criteria for Selection:

    • Three scholarships are awarded not only on the basis of academics but also on school and community involvement.

    Name: Lake County Branch NAACP Sigma Scholarship

    Amount: Several scholarships for various amounts will be awarded

    Deadline: April 30, 2021 by 3pm

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • Must be a Lake County, IL resident
    • Must have at least a 2.5 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
    • Copy of a head shot photo (may be taken with cell phone)
    • A list of community service/involvement activities and number of hours volunteered
    • Must demonstrate financial need based on the federal poverty guidelines (see guidelines at https://aspe.hhs.gov/2021-poverty-guidelines#guidelines)
    • Copy of Official Transcript (may be stamped and signed by HS Counselor; do not paper mail)
    • Copy of an acceptance letter from University, College, Technical School or other career training program that you plan to pursue
    • Two letters of recommendation from a High School Teacher, Counselor, Mentor or Community Leader
    • Completion of 500 word essay. Choose one:
      • What obstacles have you overcome since entering high school and how do you believe this scholarship will help you in achieving your future plans?

    Name: Blue Crescent Outreach Foundation - Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter (for male applicants)

    Amount: (5) $1,000

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 on his official current transcript. 
    • High school applicant must be accepted into an accredited college, university, or trade school before award will be released.
    • Applicant must demonstrate scholastic achievement and involvement in extra-curricular activities promoting community building and service.
    • Applicant must be a resident of Lake County Public School District.
    • Applicant must obtain 2 letters of recommendation*.

    To be considered, the applicant must include the following in his or her application:

    • Describe why you feel you are a deserving recipient for this scholarship.
    • List any special circumstances you would like the Scholarship Committee to consider when reviewing your application (OPTIONAL)

    Name: Round Lake Area Pageant Corporation (for female applicants)

    Amount: (1)$500 Awarded to the woman selected to be Miss Round Lake Area 2021 upon completion of her year of service. (1)$100 Awarded night of pageant to the contestant who writes the best essay describing her life in the Round Lake Area- specific topic will be provided when registration to Pageant is complete.

    Deadline: All participants must be registered by June 11, 2021 

    (Informational meeting 5/20/21 6-8pm Round Lake Civic Center, Practice session 6/3/21- 6-8, *Interviews 6/15/21 6-8, *Rehearsal 6/16/21 6-8pm, *Pageant 6/17/21- 6:30-8:30) *notes required attendance

    Eligibility Requirements: Miss contestants: Age 16-22 living in the 60073 zip code. Jr. Miss contestants 10-15 years old- $100 scholarship at completion of year of service. Contestants will participate and be scored  on  interview,  public speech, and model formal wear and answer two pop questions. Essay contest is scored and selected by a separate judge and awarded night of pageant.

    Name: State Bank of the Lakes Scholarship

    Amount: (1) $500 a year for 4 years = $2,000 total

    Deadline: April 9, 2021 by 3pm

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • Current high school seniors at Round Lake High School who will be attending a 4 year College or University following high school graduation are eligible to apply.
    • Completed Application along with a 1 essay on why you should be selected for this scholarship.
    • One letters of reference must accompany this application.
    • Transcript of high school grades. (Mr. Bruno will provide this once you've sent him your completed application)
    • Financial Aid Statement form needs to be completed and signed by applicant and parent on page two of the application.

    Name: Fox Lake/Round Lake Rotary Scholarship

    Amount: (2) $1,000

    Deadline: 3pm February 26, 2021

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • Current high school seniors at Round Lake High School who will be attending a college, university, or community college following high school graduation are eligible to apply.
    • Completed Application along with a 1 to 2-page essay on the applicant’s career goals.
    • Two letters of reference must accompany this application.
    • Transcript of high school grades. (Mr. Bruno will provide this once you've sent him your completed application)
    • Applicant and guidance counselor signatures at the end of the application. (type your name or sign your name on the signature line of the application)

    Completed application packets (all required items must be sent in one email together) must be received via email to Mr. Bruno (jbruno@rlas-116.org) or if back in school in to the College and Career Center by 3pm February 26, 2021. The scholarship committee will conduct final interviews in March 2021 and select the winners. Winners will be announced at Honor’s Night at your local high school. Payment of the scholarship will be made directly to the college or university once we receive confirmation from their school that they will be attending.

    Criteria for Selection:

    The criteria for selection shall include but not be limited to:

    1. Participation in general extracurricular activities in school or volunteer work in the community.
    2. Character recommendations from people who know the applicant.
    3. Overall grades and honors in school.
    4. Interview rapport with Rotarians.

    Letters of recommendation need to be geared to the particular applicant’s readiness to successfully pursue their education.

    Name: The Waukegan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc's Annual Scholarship

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    ➢ African American/Black/Latinx high school senior 

    ➢ Resides in and attends high school in Lake County, Illinois

    ➢ Have been accepted in a full-time program at a college, university or other accredited postsecondary institution during the 2020-2021 academic year. Verification of acceptance must be provided. 

    A complete application packet will include the following: 

    ➢ A completed scholarship application 

    ➢ A sealed official high school transcript - mailed or emailed directly from school personnel. 

    ➢ Two (2) reference letters in sealed envelopes or emailed directly from the reference. One must be from the school on official letterhead. The other can be obtained from a Lake County Community Organization/Employer. A personal letter of reference can be the second letter. It must come from someone who IS NOT a family member. Both letters must be typed, signed by the author, and include a phone number for the author to be reached if needed. Reference letters can be mailed or emailed directly from the person writing the letter.

    ➢ A typed essay on the topic given in the Essay Topic and Guidelines section of the application 

    ESSAY TOPIC/WRITING PROMPT:

    • How has 2020 impacted your imprint on the world? How have the societal changes in 2020 impacted your imprint on the world?
    • Pick an experience from your own life and explain how it has influenced your development.

    Essay Requirements

    The essay should be no more than two typed pages, 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font, double-spaced, 1" margins. Check for spelling and grammar. The content should fully address the writing prompt.
